Just a dude trying not to be problematic. I like cars, overlanding, hockey, gaming, ttrpg, and listening to other people's niche special interests.

Slowly starting to realize through repeated conversations with friends and colleagues that the majority of Americans won't acknowledge our government is fascist until they are rounding up its own citizens en masse.

Finally saw Puss in Boots: the Last Wish on a plane. Heard it was good (it is) and assumed it was the scenes with Death (because they are brilliant). What I wasn't prepared for was Perrito. Had me trying to hide ugly sobs on the plane.

"How do they [Democrats] square—either morally or politically—casting votes to remove Trump from office on two occasions, as many of them did, with approving any of his Cabinet appointments now? Who are those “yes” votes for? What are they accomplishing?"

Exactly. Democrats need to paint a picture for the public of their future if they voted for Dems. Not policy soundbites. We need STORYTELLING to convince voters that Dems have a better vision of the future.

Dem leadership has spent YEARS telling us that democracy was on the line and we needed to resist. Schumer has betrayed all democrats. Why do all these old guard Dems insist on reaching out to moderate Republicans at the expense of actual Democratic voters?

Every time I fly, I remember when I nearly missed my flight because I was so engrossed in reading Gone Girl. Parked myself in the seat right in front of my gate. Didn't realize until they made an announcement calling me by name. Got the stink eye from half the plane.

When I was in kindergarten, they taught everyone to tie their shoes. I couldn't figure out how to do the regular bow; it kept slipping out. Out of frustration, I made up my own knot I still use to this day, although I know now how to tie a bow. Little me was kind of a badass.

I have written a short statement responding to mass firings today of #NOAA / National Weather Service (#NWS) staff (which were concentrated among recent hires as well as highly experienced staff who had recently been promoted). Please see below screenshot & below for full text.

DOGE recommends cuts to the FAA. Hundreds of workers get fired, including those tasked with producing air traffic navigation maps. Now Starlink is reportedly in line to take over a $2 billion contract to upgrade the nation's air traffic control systems. See how this works?

I feel like this is obvious, but it bears stating. Musk wants to fire enough people that the government cannot effectively enforce its own laws. That way, his companies can get away with breaking every environmental, civil rights, and safety regulation he wants.

Just saw a thread about a guy calling into cspan saying his diabetic supplies increased from 5 dollars to 80 dollars and somebody in the comments, probably multiple people but I stopped reading, replied “FAFO” and I can’t stress enough how much you need to stop doing that shit

Out there. Doing the work.

Elon Musk now has access to your Social Security number. The world’s richest man has gained access to the confidential personal information of every taxpayer in the United States.

Way to start the game right boys! #UHC

Utah is pretty great.

Maybe we could get a name that's, I don't know, actually related somewhat to our state!

If you are a bot following us is not good enough. You have to reshare our safety info and protect your bot family.

BREAKING: Latest horror a distraction from many other horrors

I hope nobody gets the idea to spray paint "nazi" on Tesla inventory at their dealerships. Seems like that would be ripe for copycat vandalism.

Please be extra kind to the void today, there’s a lot of people out there screaming and the lines aren’t the void’s fault

I know enshittification was the word of the year in 2023, but it should be the word of the year again for 2024. What better way to embody the spirit of the word than to reuse the same thing from last year with minimal effort and charge more for it?

Once more, with feeling! #UHC

Good ending to a great night.

Always a good day for hockey! #NHL #UHC

Just slammed down a massive late night burrito because I forgot to eat dinner and now I'm worried there will be Consequences to my actions.

Sure, getting dumped sucks, but have you ever introduced a book/TV series to a close friend thinking they'll love it and they're not immediately infatuated with it like you were?

Everyone needs to chill with calling out echo chambers. Everything is a type of echo chamber. Your friend group is an echo chamber. Work is an echo chamber. You can't ever fully get rid of it. That's why diversity and inclusion are so important--they help reduce the severity of an echo chamber.

If life gave me lemons, I'd much rather make lemon rice or a nice lemon bar than lemonade. Much better use of the lemons.

I got my wife Baldur's Gate 3 recently. An hour in and she's nearly finished building her character. Needless to say, she loves it.

At this point the argument that you don't "read" audio books sounds a lot like people responding to "can I go to the bathroom" with "I don't know, *can* you?"

when you try to convert your text into smaller pieces but all it gives you is Elvish, that’s a tolkienizer

Who is bringing full size DVD players on a plane?
