We'll probably end up with some kind of group finder / matchmaking in our game, but man, I am so tempted to try without it just because I think groups work a lot better when there is some friction to just dumping someone and replacing them with another anonymous healer or whoever.

so I know to avoid them.

so i can def understand when you guys put a grp finder or whatever in the game
Long as you have builtin community based systems for moderating assholes outta existance, I think it will work(they get sent to a shadow realm with other assholes and cheaters and everything is x3 hp and way less drops).
Guild Wars 2 (when it first came out) had an active dungeon scene without a group finder. The community defined a strict meta and if you weren't the right class, then you weren't getting in. Period.
Sad it went that way. Luckily I was a warrior 😆
I work on a live service game and we the community meta there too. We've made some changes so we'll see how it plays out 😀
In other news, my contract ends in March, ya'll need someone to come set up your player insights team? 😘
From the launch of the game it's mostly up to the players to build a healthy and supportive community.
Also, refusing to work with/promote jerk content creators helps a lot with fostering a good culture.
If you have a group finder, make sure it actually punishes griefers and/or let's someone have kick powers in semi-premades.
Is it worth the convenience?
At the very least, no teleportation. Not like that.
I am curious though if you have an idea of how you'd like it to work, if you decide on adding it?
Wrath's Dungeon Finder changed the entire landscape of MMOs, everything after that which didn't have it was seen as sub-par (rightly or wrongly).
