I was lucky enough to go to the fantastic Pearl Morissette in Ontario and they had a whole non-alcoholic drinks pairing flight to go with the tasting menu - the driver in our group was delighted, as was the 16 Yr old. Made her first tasting menu experience really special.
It was fascinating - lots of juices, teas, tisanes etc, made from their garden herbs, fruits and veg. The pairings were very thoughtful as well, enhancing the food in the same way that a lovely wine pairing does ("Try it with the wine!" is my eternal cry in fancy restaurants...).
I don't drink much these days, mainly because I don't like wine or beer. I would be happy to pay more for some really decent non-alcoholic options not so many restaurants just don't bother and I truly think they are missing a trick. I want more options than coke, coke zero, j2fucking0.
i'm brassic, kavey, so restaurant meals a rare treat. they have some delicious fermented tea drinks at mambow i'd recommend. go very well with HYPER chilli malaysian food. my default here is the rhubarb flavoured dalston sodas. really lovely. only 40 cals a can. no artificial sweeteners.
I tried that thanks to you and really liked, but particularly their black cherry one. I have a bunch of great options at home but so often disappointed by places giving zero attention to their soft drinks list.
