If it's heat treated, I would presume it's no longer viable or able to reproduce, thus would not contribute directly to changing the gut microbiome (if that's their theory). So is the supposition that it somehow affects immune function to swallow dead soil bugs?
Yes, you definitely wouldn’t want previously unseen bacteria to reproduce (or do anything else) in your gut except be a corpse for your immune system to remember as a potential pathogen.
Personally, I think "inflammation" is a buzzword boogeyman being applied to all sorts of conditions, and "anti-inflammatory" is an equally buzzy panacea that people are applying to whatever they're hawking. Kinda like "these foods 🍔 are acidic, these are foods 🍋 are alkaline" was a few years ago.
