this is an unsurprisingly good piece because miles does reliably excellent work and a thing that does not escape my notice is that when @rollingstone.com has conversations about trans people & trans issues, they have them *with* trans people or have trans writers lead them.

one moved to austin to see if he could make a go of being a full time cover musician, playing at bars & taprooms & the VA & so far it’s going well, but he needs to supplement by driving for door dash & people have gotten both rude & cheap lately. canadian quarters are not a real tip so far south.

one works a desk job at a company so large there’s a whole position that amounts to little more than “sharepoint folder admin” and she’s learned to tell different employees apart by who capitalizes, who uses underscores, and who appends dates to file names using the european style.
