it’s a lot harder to treat trans people like a thought experiment when you see “trans people” is a collective abstraction for many individual trans persons—women, enbies, men—each singular, with interiority & interests. one of us fences. one swims. one throws & fires beautiful clay pots.

this is an unsurprisingly good piece because miles does reliably excellent work and a thing that does not escape my notice is that when @rollingstone.com has conversations about trans people & trans issues, they have them *with* trans people or have trans writers lead them.
