NYPD cars swerved into incoming traffic during a police chase, sending the guy on a motorbike they were pursuing flying. He died the next day.
2 months later, NYC sent his family a bill for $3,429 for damages to the police car.

You seem to be concerned about the police department's image instead of a dead man being billed for damage caused when THEY hit HIM.
I merely pointed out the editor & headline were misleading.
So much murkiness about the “pursuit.” The officers say they thought the bike was unregistered, but there’s no verification. And even so, two vehicles turning into oncoming traffic is just boneheaded. Cuffing him
And then failing to tell the comptroller what happened so their division looks like total jerks - because that bill was a jerk move - is some barrel bottom operations and optics. If there are any good cops out there, show urselves cus this
I don’t see anything about the family being billed or anyone claiming the family owed money.
I’m not the one being clickbaity. I’m just pointing out that the way the article is framed and promoted is false.
And the NYPD didn’t send the bill.
Seems like this was on the NYPD not the Comptroller
The only surprising thing is that the comptrollers office is seemingly human and responsible functioning adults.
ACAB!
