With you on this one. I have nevsr had a single lightning cable. And thank god I will never have the need for one. Obviously, Apple is big in China. When I lived there, I used to laugh at them as I would head to the local electronics market and buy 20 USB-C cables for about $1-1.50.
They breed, much like wire coathangers. (Unless you _want_ lightning cables, in which case you can only find the "USB-C" ones with subtly-different ends that don't fit anything you own.)
The converse also applies. (Ye Gods, there are _so_many_ incompatible "standards" for charging cables! At least the European Union is trying to force compatibility on the wretched manufacturers....)
This moose could cover a wall with incompatible power leads - and don't get me started on RF cables!
I am systematically replacing every cable that needs replacing with a USB-C plus any required adaptors. I suspect, that when everything is complete, all my wallwarts support USB-C and every cable I can find "just works" they will replace it all with USB-D because that's how my life has always worked
The interesting thing about Apple customers is that they don't even realise when they're being burned by Apple's anti-consumer conduct. That's top-tier marketing (to put it politely)
I have tons of lighting cords. Does new iPad use them - of course not. And power station with a lot of older USB slots, so need USB to USC connectors. AGGGH!
I feel this pain. Maybe you should order some lightning-to-USBC converters. They’re available on Amazon and they’re a decently cheap way of repurposing your existing lightning cables rather than buying new ones.
Yes, I now have them. I literally have a big cookie jar FULL of all different kinds of cords, most to things long since gone, but every once in a while I find one I need for some purpose.
Some time before the Earth spirals into the Sun, there will be a moment when the last and final trace of humanity exists, and it will be a USB cable, but the wrong one.
If this moose is looking for it, it will be IBM Type 1, a pair of BUS and TAG cables that are different lengths, or Fast/Wide SCSI without any terminators (or goats) within 1,000km.

It's like they're breeding and devouring the competition.
