I remember this claim back in the 1970s about the University of Calgary: footage of Chinese-speaking students somewhere as 'evidence' they were taking university places 'away from our good white kids'. Any or all could've been Canadians or non- but 'let's recoil' kind of thing.

Foreign students are a very big issue, for a very different reason.

They are paying huge sums of money to go to a post secondary institution and be exploited by a predatory system that doesn't give a fuck about them, as evidenced by the number of students who die of self-inflicted injury yearly.

My academic background was physics and I learned about science as a socially constructed process that always involved subjectivity and uncertainty and margins of error.
