Lol - exactly!
It's so windy here that I just had to rescue a poor fella from his blanket blowing over his head because he lost his tail strap when he rolled to make a horse figured snow angel and the wind blew his blanket off but the belly straps kept it on the horse.
I have to thaw myself now 🤣
Horsekeeping in winter is an adventure!
(I keep telling myself that as I'm staggering around in snow drifts, and not... "WHY do I love horses so much again?????")
Had horses on our Uncle’s farm.
Finding the rock and twine where we found the horses the quest.
The bareback, neck reining endless freedom endless.
Thank you for the memories.
It's very cold and windy here right now. The two with blankets are both old horses (24 & 25). Old horses don't move around as much, and don't process their food as efficiently. So they tend to be harder to keep warm and to keep weight on. The blankets help with that. I take them off on warmer days.
Well thank you. I've had them all a long time, so I'm pretty attached. The oldest one, in the green blanket, has been here for 19 years now (since she retired from a racing career.)
I'm in Ontario. North of Toronto. Though I did grow up in the prairies.
I've had horses all my life. I wouldn't know what to do with myself if I didn't have them to take care of. They do look wise & regal. IRL though, they are a bit like toddlers. Very silly, and always having little squabbles with each other. It can be quite entertaining to watch horsey politics.

Because horses are the cure to all evil - that's why. 🥰 (IMO)
