This new set of lay-offs isn't fed employees, but instead from orgs who do govt-funded/govt-contracted, who can no longer support the same # of staff, after the govt mass cancelled a slew of active contracts & grants.

It's just diff kind of layoffs:

1. Federal employee layoffs driven by DOGE, OPM, etc

2. Non-fed employee layoffs due to pulling of federal grants/contracts

#1 and #2 are pretty different legally.

Yes. So my understanding is a lot of the doge layoffs are not legal? Not dismissing the toll this is taking legal or not on people…thank you for clarifying on this batch of layoffs.
