Coming from civic tech land- we were actually starting to do this stuff really well. And that took years of work and research and testing and talking to people in other states and webinars and awkward happy hours and lobbying for web accessibility to be taken seriously by government.

It didn’t happen overnight. And it certainly didn’t happen because only white men were doing it. It happened because a lot of good hearted nerds decided to spend their careers serving the public instead of selling things.
