Fun fact: The secret service was established originally in 1865 because by the end of the Civil War about a third of all currency in the US was counterfeit, and we recognized that having unregulated, easily defrauded currencies dilluting our market was a threat to the continuation of our nation.

Listen, I consider myself a liberal, but I also want to feel safe, so we can't just let City Comptrollers freely roam our streets without consequences.

Does Stephen Miller have any sub basements and/or commercial freezers in his house just wondering

Tonight, I'll go home and sleep in my bed. I have a lawyer, I'll get due process. But Edgardo, whose arm was ripped from mine by ICE agents, has none of those things. That's why I'll keep coming back to court, week after week, to make sure that people's rights are protected.

This is the party they’re missing. How sad for them.

I know it feels good to post shit like "Are you done denying that we live under fascism??? Ready to come out from under your rock and admit the truth??" but who are you talking to? No one here is denying it, and the people who deny it aren't here. Who are you yelling at

No matter what you think of her, the governor of New York had other plans and meetings for today. As did everyone who works in that courthouse. Constituents could not be served today because ICE manufactured a crisis.

Fuck Cuomo. Tappan Zee Bridge forever.

everyone's saying that ice should have to wear uniforms and not arrest people in plainsclothes and masks. maybe hugo boss could design the uniforms?

An astonishing number of transnational adoptees are also being set up for failure by abusive parents who never finalize their citizenship. It's incredibly easy for a citizen to abuse undocumented or under-documented family members

Men do not need to put on a dress and go into a public restroom to abuse women and children. They usually just go home. Or don a clerical collar. Or wear a badge, or run for office. Or they just do it in public, wearing pants

“No,” said Frog.

I don’t think we’ve had a moment like this that so starkly contrasts the differences between toxic and healthy masculinity.

Have you tanked your economy? Was your birthday parade an embarrassment? Did the richest man in the world allude to you being a nonce? Did you lose your bid to challenge a sexual abuse & defamation lawsuit? If so, you need WAR! 𝑊𝐴𝑅 - 𝐵𝑒𝑐𝑎𝑢𝑠𝑒 𝑛𝑜𝑡ℎ𝑖𝑛𝑔 ℎ𝑖𝑑𝑒𝑠 𝑦𝑜𝑢𝑟 𝑓𝑎𝑖𝑙𝑢𝑟𝑒𝑠 𝑏𝑒𝑡𝑡𝑒𝑟

If you’re someone who works in federal courthouses, you know that naturalization day is usually the best day to be there. No matter how I feel about this country, people getting dressed up and bringing their families to celebrate becoming a citizen of it will always make me cry.

If New Yorkers are wondering who will fight back against Federal overreach, we have visible evidence today that Zohran Mamdani and Brad Lander are the candidates that you should rank 1 or 2 Lander literally resisted federal overreach and Mamdani showed up immediately to have his back Fuck Cuomo

You don’t get an invite to the party if you’ve already told us you’re OK with the needless deaths the of people who are already at the party

Constantly moving the goalposts on issues and politicians in favor of more human rights and a more progressive and inclusive society is good, actually. If you want a big tent, you don't get it by including bigots. You get it by persuading people why they should not be bigots anymore.

Every immigration hearing COULD be held remotely right now.

There's a debate about if Lander getting arrested was a stunt? Of course it was a stunt, and it was a good one. He's got the race's best photo op, he raised awareness that they will arrest anyone without a warrant, and most importantly he put his body on the line to do good. Nothing wrong there.

Judges need to bar ICE from courthouses. Why are they even there? It’s a courthouse. Courts are very experienced getting people to detention if needed. It’s like it’s their job.
