Yep! Wild!!

The spokes at the top are in tension, taking the weight of the bicycle. Same with the tyres, btw.

Tensegrity. Seems wrong. Shouldn't be allowed, I reckon.

One day, maybe 20 years from now I'm going to try to make a wheel using paracord for spokes, just because.

I should have you mend fence lol, wire is powerful

It’s fascinating to realize we ride bikes by the force hanging the top of the wheel to the hub. Smooths out the ride, too.

btw i am enough of a nerd to own a copy of this book, which for me only heightens the mystery!
