What counts as a "nutritious" book? The first books I read that were not defined as children's books were the Star Trek novelizations by James Blish. As an 8 year old, I thought they were great and they were a gateway to more complex books (sci-fi and other).

My son wants to try to draw his own comics because of Captain Underpants and Dogman. He has struggled with his dexterity since he was little, but I'm still encouraging him regardless. Reading for pleasure encourages new thought processes and willingness to try new things. People need to get a grip.

We are in the middle of the second Cat Kid book. My son asked if comic book clubs were a real thing. I told him that they were absolutely real, and that his elementary school doesn't have one yet. He said that he hopes that he can be a part of one some day.

I did a whole essay over on fb for my friends about not getting defensive or shameful about genre reading. It's going to be fucking ESSENTIAL for some people to get through what's coming!
