Rich people with big property portfolios own those type of buildings. They're in a dreadful state. If you're trying as a small business to make a living amongst that visage you've little chance of decent footfall. Councils need to start issuing fines. Sort it or we take it.

Completely agree. The reason those buildings feature fine architectural detail in the first place is to make the street pleasing for ordinary people. Make them feel they live in a place they can be proud of, worth taking care of. Running it down like that creates exactly the opposite feeling.

where is that Robin as we have the same in Brum City centre and frankly the issue is that so many shop online and can not turn that back and those who own these properties wont lower rents ... and rather have them empty

OK I have been there but that was a few years ago ... but of course Robin is right many towns like this now. My remedy is to get people living in the centre it is what we are doing here in birmingham as those many thousands need services etc
