Los Angeles is supposed to host the Olympics in 2028. We should ask the International Olympic Committee to use LA games as leverage to make USA live up to spirit & values of the Olympic Games right now! Here's the link to contact IOC:
May the entire free world not just warn, but prohibit citizens from travel to the aggressor, terrorist state of the U.S. We need to suffer for what a minority of our electorate did to us last November 5.
Good and clear reporting without sensation. If you cause any doubt about your reason to visit or have been in trouble before you risk getting arrested and deported.
I don't agree with these new strict interpretations of the law to be clear.
Getting deported for minor mistakes is bad but could be considered reasonable. But throwing foreign visitors in jail for weeks for minor mistakes in their visas or ESTA's is authoritarian.
All the cases I read about showed some kind of even small violation of the law. Once in the system they lose track of people quickly. That is the issue.
Tourists coming in via a typical airport are good.
Also be careful with the 100mile zone.
"They lose track of people". That will be enough for most Europeans to stay away as far as possible from the US in the coming years. Well functioning countries don't lose track of people.
Well documented how familie were Separated and kids got lost somehow during 🍊first 4y.
UK wanted to put immigrants in Rwanda.NL wants to Uganda.
Unfortunately this happens a lot. Only becomes news when it happens to white people.
It says reason to believe she wanted to work illegally in the US. No way to see if that reason was legit or not. It is within their power to refuse entry so that was following the rules.
I wonder if anyone in the US government understands how incredibly awful and embarrassing this necessity is, or what it might do to Americans traveling abroad. 😔
Thank you, the majority of us are. Those of us who did not vote for this president are devastated about the disintegration of the US relationship with Canada and the EU.
Think they thought I was Canadian, as I've been treated so nicely in all my European travels. Won't wake that sleeping dog. If American aviation gets back to Safe To Fly levels, the U.S. doesn't have a civil war, and the world doesn't have World War III, I'll visit friends in Vienna.
The millions of very nice Americans are still welcome over here. But expect some uneasy questions about "WTH were you all thinking??! " 😉
I hope this collective psychiatric episode of the US will pass and sanity will prevail in the end.
The profoundly respectful answer would have to be: "Over half of us were not thinking THAT." There is reason to believe the skew wasn't even greater. Drumpf has as much as said so out loud in public: Elon is so great with computers and boom, we won big in Pennsylvania.
Reporting indicates that legal immigrants who live in the US are being treated in evil and unconstitutional ways, without due process of law, regardless. It’s horrific.
To be clear, unless we’re Native Americans, we’re all immigrants. My family has been here since the 1700’s, but we originally emigrated here from England. Thus, we’re immigrants, too. Just been here longer is all. 🤷
Reading the actual advisory from the foreign office is interesting. This in particular is something my European wife finds extremely creepy about American culture:
United States tourism is going to suffer greatly under the reign of the current domestic terrorists, further crippling our economy and sending us deeper into a catastrophic downward slide. Hitler wannabe trump will paint a false rosy picture of this calamity. Friendly reminder. He is lying. Again.
If I were Canada, I’d weigh the pros and cons of welcoming Americans who oppose this regime. Offer a three-year path to citizenship—background checks and social media will show where they stand.
The marginalized, who do most of the work here, will flock—along with betrayed veterans.
There are basic rights to minimum treatment and due process that non-convicted people must hold in all circumstances - even if they've been caught red-handed doing something heinous. Anyone who would even question that is supportive of the concept of crimes against humanity, IMHO.
When did I question it? I started out by saying that they’re Gestapo shit. But I also get really hesitant to defend people that are definitively shady. In this article, she didn’t even mention she was coming back into the United States from Mexico.
What I'm saying is that even if she committed 7 murders and smuggled six tonnes of fentanyl into the US during that stopover, she would still have been entitled to more due process than she received.
Why are you spouting ICE talking points verbatim? She explained it on the article and no drugs were found with her to make it "shady".
It's giving controlled opp vibes
Private prisons have been linked to abuse and kickbacks in the U.S. for decades. Are you familiar with the judge sentencing juveniles to serve in his buddy’s prison in exchange for payments?
