If another man who "votes red" (their words!) comes at me and tells me that he's absolutely terrified because his children are special needs and he's now worried about the Department of Education dissolving, I'm going to stick my head in the oven.

Why would you stick your own head in an oven? When a man says something that stupid to you, you should laugh in his fucking face and tell him to tug harder on those bootstraps.
These men are getting exactly what they voted for, and if they don’t like it all they deserve is ridicule.
I already do that, and I know that they're getting what they voted for.
As a Black woman, there's an extra level of frustration. It seems they want to turn to their nearest Black or brown person at hand to comfort them and they fail to realize we will not be those people.
Elections have consequences. Why wouldn't you put your children first? Why wouldn't you use your critical thinking skills?
And furthermore, why are you trying to burden ME with this? If you're terrified, you should have voted for something that wouldn't have made you terrified.

We're all kinda busy putting out our own fires and holding up our own collapsing walls.

"Okay."
My emotional bandwidth and empathy is nonexistent for people who vote against their own interests, let alone that of their children.
