Agree that our health system is broken and underfunded. That said, the costs are huge and we (Canadians) are already taxed to the gills. Bad demographics and population growth are going to further exacerbate. New models for the provision of healthcare services at lower cost are urgently needed.

Have talked about the Con #PathwayToPrivatization of public healthcare & education agenda for YEARS now. Create or piggyback on chaos (a pandemic, for example), change policies/steamroll own initiatives while people are overwhelmed/unwell, fund/spread disinfo, swoop in with private options, make $$.

The biggest aid to privatization in BC has been the NDP. They broke BC Ferries so badly in the '90s with the "fast ferry" debacle that the BC Liberals had no problem privatizing it in the early 2000s. Blaming the just right for this is wrong, unfortunately. The left has to be held to account as well

Actually? I don’t find it strange at all. I have found in my 15 years in Canada that this is just standard operating behavior. That is why Canada will fall quickly and dangerously into the same fascist spiral the US is taking on. Add in totally corrupt media pushing far right governments? It’s bad.

I am right, and not happy I am. The history of fascism shows it is one of the most violent forms of government. An insatiable need for power and control based intimidation, hatred, and intolerance. We are watching exactly what Canada will turn into by looking south. It’s going to happen quickly.

A big chunk of our media, government and health sector is complicit in privatization. Most regular people have no idea. They’re basically trying to keep their heads above water right now. (See also: Loblaws, bread price fixing scandal, etc)
