Literally days ago a judge slammed a very similar executive order as blatantly unconstitutional. And he just... goes and issues another one against a different law firm, again over direct personal animus.

Don’t agree there is no difference. Yes he’s signaling defiance. But BIG difference between telling a court you refuse to comply with an order vs. taking another crack at an issue you lost on by trying it with different target and hoping target rolls over. One violates law and the other doesn’t.

Was it Beryl Howell, or a judge in some other current Trump v USA case, who said explicitly in the order that refiling a similar EO (maybe he said one which punishes the same firm?) would be taken as an end-run around this (Perkins Coie) judicial order? Orders need teeth, given the defiance pattern.

I hope every federal judge in the nation realizes that Trump and his whole administration is corrupt, detestable and a danger to the country. And that the courts need to step up and assert their lawful authority over this chaos and madness. And hold Trump to account for his unconstitutional actions.

My state (FL) con law professor discussed the Terri Schiavo case and ended it with “in the end, the rule of law prevailed” and I asked how it was just that her parents were able to spend months fighting what appeared to be her clear intentions to the contrary. I got a word salad. Seems analogous

Question for civil rights lawyers out there. While Trump has criminal immunity for official acts does he have absolute civil immunity? Could law firms not bring 1983 claims against him personally? Seems like if qualified immunity were the standard he’d lose since these are blatantly unconstitutional
