Come up with a coalition, but also clear rules for temporarily kicking out countries that fall to the proto-fascist populist fever. None of this veto nonsense. Some sort of a meta parliament that is more stable than any individual representative. As it feels that power vacuum is sucking the air out

Coz look, what the US showed is that it's not the "psyche", not the "foundation myth", not "values" that protect (or fail to protect) a country from descending to tyranny. It's something way simpler, and more tangible: the political system. Some systems are more susceptible to it than others

Russia is a weird case, as it's both broken and sick with imperial legends. But the foundation myth of the US was its fight with tyranny, the city on a hill, the bill of rights, all this stuff. Until recently it vibed of boy scouts, thank you for your service, and self-made men. Very right-coded

Who are still at risk, but holding for now. The rules of a system are more important than the behavior of its elements

And if this is true for countries, it is probably true for the planet as a whole. It will be saved (or ruined) not through facts, journalism, civics and history lessons etc; not through changing what people think. But through designing a functional, functioning, stable, fault-tolerant system

Should not we start working on this system already now? Should not a pivot to developing this "UN v2.0" give us at least some vague hope that this crisis can be overcome?
