@cscheid.net uses a system like this with (what I think are) some bash aliases like `today`. Every time we pair and I see him use it I get a little closer to setting it up myself (but the activation energy....)

Yes, I have a “today” script that creates ~/Desktop/daily-log/yyyy/mm/dd, links ~/today to that directory and then cds there. The ~/today directory is handy for creating a Favorites entry on Finder.

haha I guess I did assume there was more to it than that! But still, super useful little script. I like the convention of putting everything in `daily-log` organized by date and having `today` be a shortcut link in finder is neat

one annoyance is having to remember to type `today` every morning, and being very confused when you accidentally create the file on the wrong day.

I should solve this with a cron script but it's been three years of having this system and I haven't done that (to speak of activation energy...)
