I hate to tell you, but I've been hit by bikes 4 times in DC and not once by a car. 3 times I was in the crosswalk with the light and the 4th on the sidewalk. They're less *deadly* but they're a menace in cities that don't enforce rules on them. Bikes are not friends to pedestrians.

yeah I absolutely believe that the rate of bike/pedestrian crashes is higher than car/pedestrian crashes in many places, the severity is just much lower when it happens. eg. I believe all of our fatal or incapacitating traffic injuries in Ann Arbor have involved a motor vehicle.

Yeah, absolutely. Cars are deadliest, no doubt. But at least a few years ago, there was no way to ticket the guy or report to any stats agency when one of the bikes sent me to the hospital, so I do wonder how much we don't know.

oof. It looks like we don't report crashes that don't involve a motor vehicle in Michigan either, which surprises me. It's insane right? And you'd think the bike lane advocates would lobby to have that data to show bike lanes should* reduce pedestrian accidents with them as well.

*if bikes stop at crosswalks

There is an ICD code for it, if you can get aggregate health data, but it will only show up for medical visits.
