This is a topic I have tried to push for years. Kids have a right to move around on our roads exactly the same as licensed drivers. You don't need a licenses to ride your bike in the street and yet cities do little to protect youth who need to use our roads.

Your regular reminder that the more often you own your mistakes, the easier it gets. It is like any muscle-- work it more and it gets stronger. All people mess up, and sometimes we do so publicly. It's not the end of the world to acknowledge that we missed the mark; it's how we clean up.

BREAKING: The Associated Press sues three Trump administration officials over access to presidential events, citing the First Amendment.

And this has been the position of the US government for nearly 80 years: Forced public subsidy of private transportation to create profit for oil/gas, car manufacturers, and road construction. That’s why public transit (more affordable in every way) is dead in much of the country.

Everyone needs to see this. Be ready to deny access, even if you don't know any immigrants. Let them waste time and you might save a family somewhere else. #Disobey #blue #fotus #FBR #immigrants #TruthWarriors #theresistance #resist #FBPE #FuckICE #SaveOurDemocracy #sanctuary #organize #fucktrump

"The proposal to ban e-bikes from bike lanes might have been persuasive if it had been an actual argument, rather than an ableist, gatekeeping diatribe about the superiority of old-school cycling." the-orbit.net/greta/2025/0...

After that plane literally flipped upside down after smashing into the runway and 100% of people survived, I hope every person who ever said “what’s even the point of seatbelts on a plane” feels like a real doof.

DHS has removed manual guidance barring investigations solely based on sexual orientation and gender identity. This is a prerequisite to targeting the LGBTQ community with criminal investigations solely based on being LGBTQ. news.bgov.com/bloomberg-go...

He’s not making up: news.bloomberglaw.com/banking-law/... Is this really what y’all voted for? 🫤 💰

Not just Democrats! Major media outlets need to clearly describe what's happening as authoritarianism instead of using euphemisms like "broad Presidential powers." It's not even up for debate anymore at this point.

In Washington last year, a traffic crash killed or seriously injured someone every 2.7 hours, but I've never seen a TV news station claim that even a single horrific crash "highlights the dangers" of roadway travel.

AOC has them sputtering mad because she’s educating people on constitutional rights. You don’t see them freaking out at Jeffries for talking about egg prices.

Alright, I’m resolving the debate. All of these are simultaneously true: 1) Dems are the minority in Congress, greatly limiting their institutional power 2) Congressional Dems can and should be doing more 3) Some Dems are actually doing opposition, drawing public attention, etc 4) Not enough are

Wheelchair users regularly use the painted bike lane on my street, regardless of the season, because smooth asphalt is a better rolling experience than bumpy sidewalks with slopes from driveways to the street. If you haven’t used a wheelchair, it can be hard to appreciate how bad sidewalks are. 1/3

AOC clapped back at Tom Homan — More of this.

Want to go visit the national parks this year? Sorry. The reservation system is shut down, EMT personnel are gone, so don't get hurt or lost. No one can clean the bathrooms or cabins, so they'll be closed. Rangers are fired. www.sfchronicle.com/bayarea/arti...

“They cut speed limits, changed street design, removed space for cars… Now it appears that work is paying off. Oslo & Helsinki are reaping the rewards of committed action on making their roads safer, reducing pedestrian fatalities to zero last year.” #VisionZero #SpeedKills #Oslo #Helsinki

BREAKING: Utah BANNING firefighters, police, teachers, and other govt workers from negotiating for better pay and benefits for them and their families This is MAGA: 1) False promises to help people against elites 2) Destroy middle class workers and families -- to benefit elites

How was this contract awarded??!

Going down a rabbit hole now but this is a very simple graphic I found that shows a small change in design can have a big impact here. It seems obvious, and it is, but I see a lot of bad streetlights in the wild.

It’s weird how we’ve memory holed the fact that Obama entered his first term with a filibuster-proof majority in the Senate and a majority in the House and McConnell’s response was “We’re going to make Obama a one-term president,” not “there’s little we can do”

Seeing cars as a “one size fits all” solution to transportation is a death sentence for cities.

Over 2,000 webpages containing LGBTQ+ information have been removed from federal government websites.

Last night @60minutes.bsky.social opened an otherwise superb segment on Germany’s approach to online hate speech by saying “in the U.S., most of what’s said on online [social media] platforms is protected by the First Amendment.” No.The First Amend protects us against GOVT infringements on speech.

I think it’s important to analyze this activity in terms of power: 1. They are threatening current & future federal employees about what happens if they don’t follow orders 2. Creating openings for loyalists 3. Creating opportunities for privatization 4. Raiding for resources, money and info Etc

Exactly 😡

FFS! 𝙏𝙝𝙚𝙮 are firing National Park Service EMTs There will be no one to attend to you if you get attacked by wildlife, fall while climbing/hiking, have a skiing incident, are drowning, break a leg/arm/your neck, etc Alex Wilds is one such federal employee. Read what he's saying

The employee is Gavin Kliger. He’s been named by multiple large news orgs. Not sure why NBC won’t.

Upon receiving the news that four of the City's Deputy Mayors have submitted their resignations, I sent the following letter to @nycmayor.

This is a gem of a little book on the legal history of Euclid v. Ambler

“A single unmuffled scooter crossing Paris at night can wake as many as 10,000 people.” We seriously underestimate the impact of vehicle noise on urban livability and health. Cities aren’t noisy, engines are. How #Paris Is Waging a War on Noise Pollution.

1. OSHA has ordered the digital and physical destruction of 18 publications on workplace safety practices, according to an email obtained by Popular Information. The email says the publications have been removed from the web and tells staff that physical copies should be "disposed of or recycled"

If you’re fine with an unelected private citizen and his unqualified, inexperienced hired help having access to all your taxpayer and private data—no oversight, no compliance, no problem —then go ahead and post all your data online right now. Not comfortable with that? Why not?

Ok, schools at US military bases aren’t just removing books that fall into the “DEI” category. They are removing books with that totally woke viewpoint that slavery was a bad thing

Kinda fucked safety always falls on the most vulnerable. Tell me why we don't just require minimum sightlines for cars again?

BREAKING: The Trump administration has begun firing hundreds of Federal Aviation employees just weeks after the fatal mid-air collision over the Potomac River in Washington, D.C., as well as other deadly plane crashes.

Major news: Entire first-year class of the Epidemic Intelligence Service must be out by 5pm, sources say. Also: a major CDC contractor "just let go." Others may follow. This is an attack on our ability to detect outbreaks. More, with quotes from CDC officials: open.substack.com/pub/insideme...

The world’s 280 million electric bikes and mopeds are cutting demand for oil 4x more than electric cars due to their staggering uptake in China and elsewhere.

Sadly not a @theonion.com headline. #vaccineswork

What a disgrace. Bezos and the newspaper he has destroyed should be grateful that anyone thinks it’s still worthwhile to buy ad space from them. *This* is how democracy dies.

Case in point on barriers to media opposition www.independent.co.uk/news/world/a...

🧵Who is opposing the Trump administration? I analysed 76 actions of the administration since inauguration and then searched for *meaningful* opposition to each. I grouped the types of opposition and considered what we can learn from both them & actions where opposition has been lacking 1/24

“We put in a bike lane but no one uses it. I guess we’re not a biking culture.” (To paraphrase @tomflood.bsky.social 😂)
