What a cute design. I kind of like how small the screen is. It mimics the visual range when handwriting projects.
Wonder if that would actually improve focus?
But by that time, WordStar was already on the PC market and setting the standard. Sony has spent decades since then trying to build products that would play nicely with anyone else, but we didn’t fall for Beta Tape again.
Damn that’s cool in a 80’s cyberpunk way. Would like to get the case and keyboard of one of these and fill it with a new high def screen and the biggest raspberry pi I could fit in it
Off topic but around 1992 or 1993 I engineered a Freight Logistics system for Sony and I was curious whether they still use it. It was in COBOL and mainframe-based.
I found out that some of my code for Hewlett-Packard is still alive as is some of the code I did for WorldCom in the late 90s which is now Verizon. Lot of people don't realize that we still have a bunch of systems that are still on COBOL simply because it's too expensive to re-engineer it
The last time I saw a statistic it was still above 85%. And that was worldwide. Similarly in the United States over 80% of Commerce used COBOL based systems, most using the one I worked on in Delray Beach, Florida (they back everyone from Brookstone to Honey Baked Ham).
That’s basically the same as an Alphasmart which I keep promising myself I’m going to get off eBay for November’s novel writing month and every year fail to do so
