So great to see the positivity here about getting checked. Breast cancer took my mother in her forties back in the late sixties. Discovered too late, sadly.
You look waaaay too young for mammograms,Tee. I hope it wasn't too uncomfortable (I found it not nearly as bad as expected #Smallboobs) and that you get an all clear result. ππ€
Exactly this Nanna, I didnβt sleep well last night and then wasnβt half as bad as I thought. Quick bit of pain for hopefully a good result fingers crossed π€πΌ
Hope all goes well. I was diagnosed after my very first mammogram with breast cancer. No symptoms, no lump. I am indebted to the NHS and their screening programme. NEVER turn down an appointment. Now cancer free for 12 years xxxx
Oh Iβm so happy to hear this, the lady said that a lot of people get a call back in the first instance just because they donβt really know how things are with you but I think thatβs a good thing!
Youβll be fine. Truly the discomfort of getting your boobs squashed for a few minutes is worth it! Best of luck with your results. Donβt panic if they are not what you want (I did!) you WILL be taken care of. Xxxx
Hi Tee π for highlighting the importance of getting these checkups. As a bloke in his 50s, I regularly get my prostate checked. Of course, a blood test (thankfully not a finger π³) isn't as uncomfortable as a mammogram. But there's no screening svce, so men must instigate it themselves.
Get tested!
The women who run the sessions are fabulous, in my experience. So calm, reassuring, knowledgeable, and make it so very straightforward.
So very thankful for the NHS π
I am glad all is ok.
The wife was diagnosed at 58, 15 years on she is still with us cursing Trump and Johnson.
So much to thank the NHS and her Surgeon for saving her life.
Well done for having the breast screening!! ππ It's worth a bit of discomfort to prevent and pick up any changes? Thank goodness for the NHSπ.
I've found the radiographers are so helpful and sensitive to reassure their patients! I'm sure your results will be fine, but I know it's usually a bit of a nervous wait to get the results.π€
I've had quite a few as have had breast cancer. I am so glad that you have gone to your appointment. Well done & may they always come back negative for you
The hardest part is keeping still. Do NOT, however briefly, think about how utterly fucking ridiculous you must look in the moment, or you'll start to giggle, and that annoys the radiologist. π
It didn't help one iota that the nurse doing mine looked & sounded like Whatsherface from Austin Powers & despite my telling her I've lived in Germany for over 20 years, she insisted on barking at me "You put ze boobies on ze plate!!!" I was helpless & the radiographer a bit cross π€£π€£π€£π€£π€£
Honestly, I just sort of saw the whole scene from outside myself and started to giggle. The rest was like trying to wrestle two large and excited blancmanges into a fucking envelope! You honestly couldn't write it!

good luck to you then.
I think Iβd built it up in my head to be much worse. It really wasnβt that bad
TBH I wouldnβt send them even if there was π€ͺπ€ͺπ€ͺ
π Good morning
Get tested!
My last mammogram I was in and out in 5 mins, out before my official appt start time.
I was the only βpatientβ there, which shocked me
So very thankful for the NHS π
βIf the NHS are offering free check-ups then youβd be daft not to take them up on it. It could just save your life.β
This applies to both women AND men.
Have been informed its not a pleasant experience so be kind to yourself.

Good to hear your voice. Not as I expected π
Your voice is fine btw. Upbeat and pleasant
Glad it went well & very happy all is ok.
Iβd hazard a guess that it was a man who invented this test, seeing as itβs so uncomfortable π³
*Shudders*
Makes me shudder
Hope your visit to the Breville Toaster (as a friend of mine called it) all goes wellπ
