@lewisgoodall.com @lbc.co.uk You should have played James Cartlidge this. They can’t pretend it wasn’t their fault we are unprepared. They were warned. Tobias was defence committee chair and a Tory MP. Boris and Brexiteers were/are in the pockets of the 🇷🇺‘ians. youtu.be/_nAX25vIVyI?...

Yeah no shit.

Knackered from a day of volunteering but feel great from it. Best thing any of us can do right now is help those around us, whether friends, family or wider community. Spread what love and kindness you can. That’s something in your control when so much feels uncontrollable.

Trump following announcing that he’s king, saying ‘I am the federal law’, & suggesting he’s intending to remain in place for a third term, by replacing all military & legal leadership with loyalist goons couldn’t be a clearer signal of what’s to come.

A key feature of disinformation and propaganda is that it is part of repeated narratives. When the lie Zelensky is not legitimately elected was spread, others follow. Like the Dutch PVV Minister of Immigration who repeated the lie (and had to quietly retract). Disinformation is repetition.

Saw someone on Reddit refer to Trump as Emperor Tangerine and it made me chuckle. Then I found this. www.youtube.com/watch?v=qYV6...

Trump is on the brink of betraying Ukraine and the UK. Britain must lead in Europe by increasing defence spending immediately and all political parties should get round the table to make that happen. I fear what happens if we don't take this step.

The country singer started the “Imagination Library” nearly 30 years ago to encourage early literacy. www.thedailybeast.com/dolly-parton...

The biggest trap Europe and the UK could fall into is to think that they "just have to get through the next 4 years." No. They have to change. They have to take their security into their own hands, and that includes the development, manufacturing and maintenance of their weapons systems.

Calling Zelensky a “Dictator” must be where the line is drawn. It is my sincere hope that the whole political spectrum in the United Kingdom will speak with one voice in opposition to Trump’s lies.

I’m less a “glass half empty” than “the glass is a just illusion” kind of gal, but even my pessimism wasn’t prepared for all *this*.

Doesn't particularly surprise me, but it is a necessary reality check for progressives.

I really appreciate living somewhere with universal healthcare and eggs.

The most unpatriotic members of any society are the far right. They will always align with foreign interests against the interests of their own nations. They will always undermine national institutions and national values in pursuit of their own interests. When they pose as patriots, they lie.

OH has picked today to start listening to drone metal. As if my head didn't hurt enough already.

The next few weeks will decide the course of the world for the foreseeable future.

Very good description of Badenoch.

There are always times in politics where both sides of the aisle have to come together. Badenoch cannot handle that, she needs to use fictitious "culture wars" battles, because she can't comprehend real world issues which require unity. It is just appalling politics, as much as anything else.

Elon Musk is starting to fund politically motivated litigation in the United Kingdom.

Word of the Day is ‘quockerwodger’ (19th century): a puppet individual whose strings are pulled entirely by someone else.

As a journalist who covers extremism at the local level, I think it’s a mistake to view Trump’s Napoleonic statement as solely about presidential power. Consider if it’s interpreted as a wink and a nod for any extremist to act outside the law to “save” the country as they see fit

There are now few pleasant ways out of this. American politicians need to find one of those ways.

Me too.

It’s not politics as usual - and pretending that it is just makes us look weak and scared, with little agency and no self-conviction.

Nuclear security is now woke.

MAGA is really a collection of cowards and incels isn’t it? They bully migrants and trans people, but whenever a vicious tyrant like Putin comes along, they get down on their knees and fawn.

I'd like to say something intelligent and insightful about JD Vance's speech, but frankly he isn't worth the energy. I'll just say this instead.

Military historian Sir Antony Beevor on Times Radio on Trump-Putin: "We should always distrust historical parallels, especially those from WW2...but there is a really very frightening echo of the betrayal of Czechoslovakia in 1938 and the idea that one can deal over the heads of a suffering nation"

This is disgusting, especially for someone who has been given so much power over government programs.
