I find this especially interesting because the real change in activism in the 60s was a move away from mass movements (build up enough support and then do the thing) to more radical methods (strike wherever and whenever you can, build support through action). And, like, it was effective!

leadership constantly supporting the worst possible fucking democrats for years, backing them against primary challengers who want to do the good things you want, actually makes it really hard to ever get the votes to do the things people say dems never have enough votes for, quite obviously.
