I followed them because of the tone of their statement.
It's a thought that leagues like the EPL and MLS with their frequent statements and displays against hate, are once again behind those who make less of a self-seving public display.
Congrats to Werder! Well done. I can only hope that my club, Bayer 04 Leverkusen, will soon follow Werder's example. On Werder's announcement post on X, I gave Bayer 04 a nudge. I hope it works.
I'm still wondering why most clubs have been so slow on the uptake? Not just leaving but just having an account in the first place. Great example being set by Werder and St Pauli though
A lot of clubs and businesses in general will be slow for 2 reasons. 1. They would rather be seen as A political as it's the safest way not to upset customers 2. X still has a large reach to customers that marketing teams won't want to loose with an established alternative. Bluesky isn't there yet
We have to stop accepting the framing of this as a political choice. It is simply a choice not to have the most hateful and hurtful comments shoved in your face and not be followed by 17 porn bots every day.
