we've even got tiny little Sewfisticated Discount Fabrics, on Puritan Plaza, Morrisey Blvd, right here in Dorchester.
(aka the stripmall next to Lamberts).
(They had what I wanted recently.)
Yeah, it's limited; it's a shop, not a warehouse.
They did have the 2 bog-common notions we wanted last.
If one wants the old 6 retail/wholesale warehouses on adjacent blocks comparison-shopping experience of Boston Chinatown/GarmentDistrict of 30 years ago, Acela to NYC is the only game in town.😥
For larger notions section, there's Michaels
(or ⛔ LootedAntiquitiesLobby, f*** them).
While mostly in the one-bus-per-day suburbs, there is one Michaels at Porter T🚉 .
Nice eclectic shopping center on the T!
(the indie Tags Hardware below has canning supplies!)
When I was half my age, I could get there walking; I should work on my endurance, i could do it again? It's only another ¼ mile down hill from my mechanic. It's the ⅛ mile up hill on return that would hurt.
I live right by Shawmut, so it’s only about a mile, total, and the hill isn’t terribly brutal (not like the one by the Stop&Shop along Morrisey, which is a BEAR)
About the same Mile for me.
(I'm going to try Meeting House Hill with a knee-brace tomorrow to see if that will be more comfortable than banking in the square without was last week. If I let it heal, it may heal!)
When I was young and foolish, I enjoyed going up that hill with a stick-shift. 3 feet, 3 hands required !
(Mom didn't like the Congress Sq hill in Portland, but she could do it, so I felt it was expected skill level.)

And there are a number of other Fabric listings in inner-burbs.
