I'm an 80s high schooler and had US History and AP government, and yes, we were taught all this,no white washing no nothing but we engaged in the conversation. Any Gen X that support Frump should know better. Oh, and our parents didn't object to us learning truths.

Oh and not one yt person feelings were hurt about slavery segregation but they were angry at the ones that allowed it and truth made us kids do better and be better. Which is why we had more unity then. I do remember an older person stating we can't let future generations be like Gen X
