Wow, such simpler times. I'm surprised Captain Kangaroo was still going strong in 1976. I watched him in the 60's. I guess he went all the way into the 80's.
Bing died shortly after this from a heart attack and it was aired after his death, he was only 74. whether his pipe smoking contributed to his death I don't know but so many H'wood people from that era died far too early deaths from heart attacks or lung cancer.
David Bowie died at only 69.
tragic
Believe it or not I was lucky enough to meet David Bowieβ¦ I was in a recording studio in 1987 and Bowie stopped in to record an interview for a TV station and I couldnβt believe it was him. I put my hand out, He shook it and was very nice. We talked for a minute until he had to go. A true story!
no reason not to believe it. if you live in NYC area or LA chances are you would randomly run into some celebrity sometime or another.
Edward James Olmos worked at a gym my friend worked at and he had multiple convos with him, said he was a very nice guy. I'd have loved to have met Bowie myself.
Yeah me too. I just donβt think it worked. Then again, I like Alvin and the Chipmucks βChristmas Donβt be Lateβ so I am a deeply flawed individual. Merry Christmas ππ to you!
I and a crowd of my dorky 1970s school friends were IN that show (Trinity Boys Choir). On the first day of recording, Bing came over and asked me if I liked David Bowie. Obvs I said yes. Wasnβt brave enough to ask if I could hang out on set when they recorded their bit together. I was only 12 tho.
The back story on this is incredible! Bowie wrote his part of song. He showed up late to set, sprang it on Bing and the production, and they got it in one take.
I remember by Nana & great aunt thought it was blasphemous.π€£
i actually had a mr green jeans album.. favorite song... "as i was walking up the stairs, i met a man who wasnt there. he wasnt there again today.. Oh how i wish he'd go away"
I like to think in a three year span, Cher was married to Sonny Bono, had a one month love affair with Captain Kangaroo, then married Gregg Allman, followed by Gene Simmons.

More surprising than a hail of ping-pong balls.

Have we gone too far with AI or not far enough? Idk, my brain melted out of my ears.
And it would all make sense.
Would have taken a lot of balls.
