My questioning began with why no one ever tried to fix his scar, or his eyesight?

Also: why are there poor wizards when you can magic up or steal basically anything, with a little ingenuity?

Yeah, iirc (its been 20 years) everything in Weasleys kitchen just happens by itself. Rowling put in a slave race for shits and giggles and to call her self insert dumb for her empathy, compassion and political activism?!

Because if there were no money in the Harry Potter universe, there would be no excuse for Rowling to include scheming, hook-nosed, gold-obsessed bankers who DEFINITELY DON'T REPRESENT ANY PARTICULAR ETHNIC GROUP.
