Other UK butterflies that bucked the trend of a dreadful 2024, were Marsh Fritillary & Chequered Skipper. Both dropped back from higher population levels in 2023, but remained above average. Marsh Fritillary did particularly well in Northern Ireland (3rd best year) but poorly in Wales (3rd worst).
