I'm not criticizing these mini houses. I'm just a little skeptical that the city won't try to trash these too. They didn't even try to work with Khaleel Seivwright. I donated to his efforts. I was disappointed with the city. I hope these don't end up the same.

Oh, I didn’t think you were criticizing! I just remember the attitude by the city was unsympathetic and pretty NIMBY. These new buildings look viable and the interior reminds me of a hotel I stayed in - tiny but perfectly planned. And they have fire safety and heat, so the NIMBYs can sit down, lol.

At the least a person could be safely locked into a tiny shelter while they sleep without fear of being robbed, beaten, burned or raped.

I once made the mistake of straying off the path in a downtown park and it was shocking to me and I don’t blame the people who don’t have a bathroom.
It is a public health hazard and the only solution is dignified housing for all.

Many people who live rough are working. Jobs that are casual don't guarantee year round work or are part time and low paying. At the very least there should be social housing that they can afford. The so called market has failed this demographic. It's shameful.

If they were uncorrupted, free markets with fair practices it might work but there is a lot of collusion, coersion and dirty tricks in business. Practices used when buying a home or algorithms that jack the price of rentals up. These are only ones I am aware. Has to be an ethical market.

Ford’s solution for homelessness is put them in jail. Maybe if he invested the millions he’s giving to cops into working with someone like this kind person we would be able to solve the problem. I would imagine that if funds were available people would volunteer to help build homes.

I have an idea. I believe homeless people, not all but a lot have difficulty making decisions and taking care of themselves. Instead if millions on jails buy a couple hotels. Put some residents to work cleaning rooms weekly, preparing meals. Have social workers in house. These people need guidance.

Here in America we solved that problem (sort of) by making the prisons for profit so everyone (shareholders) has a vested interest in locking more folks up. It's a win/win for the gentry class. And then we can farm those folks out to McDonald's for pennies on the dollar. Another win for capitalism
