Just home now from my grocery shopping. I scrutinized every item for Canadian labels and selected accordingly. It was much easier than I thought. Didn’t need a single item compromising my #buyCanadian intention. And still got everything I need.

I’m finding the same thing. I profile a Canadian business daily and have discovered the same thing. Even though the name may be Canadian or say Canadian company, once I start digging, it’s foreign owned, funded, invested etc. we relay far more heavily than I was aware on imports.

it really wasn't that hard at #Costco this week, only switched the Kirkland Hotdogs 🇺🇸 with Heritage 🇨🇦 Seeing Kraft Parmesan made with Canadian dairy was a happy surprise. Most of my veggies and fruits come from my local green grocer that trucks north from Mexico weekly.

PepsiCo owns them, they are a global company with head office in the States. They also own Frito Lay with a few manufacturing plants throughout Canada and I think the Quaker plant in Ontario had to close, not to sure

It would be impossible for some products to be wholly made in Canada
For example, 90% of Canada's sugar comes from imported sugar cane

& I just found out that "Product of Canada" claims are subject to a higher threshold of Canadian content (98%), while "Made in Canada" are only subject to a 51% threshold of Canadian content

Took me twice as long to shop today but I’ll get used to know what to get. We can’t get everything Canadian made here. For example I got my strawberries from Mexico and my Dijon mustard made in France. Not one thing in my basket was made in the USA though. 🇨🇦 first then ACBUSA (any country but 🇺🇸)
