You're not wrong, but most people in know would categorize "beating" as some intense bruising and a fracture that would suck for a while, like a rib. A surprising amount of people, myself unfortunately included, would not assume that a beating meant he almost died. So I wanted to reinforce that.
At the moment he broke the record, someone handed him something, and Cory choked out, "John!" Wondering if he'd asked an aide to give him a pic of John Lewis in that moment.
And no, Cons, this isn’t to encourage you to be brave and defiant in your town halls. This is to encourage Dems to be brave against the devil and his MAGA army.
I couldn't tell if he was telling his colleagues that - or (like Schumer) expecting "the people" to go in the streets and get beaten up while they don't do anything still. If your read is correct, that would be cheerier for sure!
