babe: i was raised by violent trump supporters, i lived with crooked cop who beat my mother. i know appalachia can harbor evil. i am no fool. i just recognize that scarcity causes pain, and the solution here is not to punish people but to extend a hand. there is no excuse for cruelty.
even cruelty against ppl you believe are wrong. they do not deserve to live in trailers w/o heat, to die decades early of cancer, even if every last person in the whole region was evil, they would not deserve that. it would not make them less evil (as evidenced by how decades of this rhetoric
has only further isolated the region) and i think it is possible for grown adult humans to recognize human dignity & human folly at the same time. i'm not going to blame ppl for their own poverty bc i have a brain in my skull
Not everyone there is poor though. A vast majority in my experience, while not being poor, are most certainly temporarily embarrassed millionaires. And they mostly just need a scape goat for their temporary embarrassment. One of my older siblings included.
They do all of these things to themselves. If you pay attention to their mindset, this is the outcome of it. None of any of this changes until their mindset changes.
