This has been my fear for a while. We all moan about beurocracy but ultimately no one hates it more than authoritarians.
I been afraid of what will happen when the bureaucratic apparatus can be automated and someone undesirable gains control of it
I didn't think it would happen this soon though

Although I would say that bureaucracy just about *is* an AI, in that it seems to have agency but is in reality just non-agentic actors following an incredibly complex set of rules that interact in unexpected ways.

Given a collision of topics in my timeline, I'm left with the question: Is radiology bureaucratic labor?

my conception of bureaucratic labor is essential "exception handling for an organization" so maybe?

Need more than a tweet to make this argument, but cancer screening serves as a conditional switch to turn a healthy person into a "cancer patient."

When confronting the fact that it's brittle, they respond that the world would have to reorient itself around that brittleness

The idea that that this assault on the "pmc" is new is nonsense. It's been the one of the most important developments of the last 50 years.
(The PMC is much better understood in Gouldner's terms as a 'new class' with control but not ownership of production)
