I spent most of it impressed they somehow managed to avoid stumping up cash to the Victor Pemberton Estate.

I actually preferred S2 through. S1 wants to be a gritty drama even though if hinges on everyone constantly being idiots and makes less and less sense.

S2 embraces its Big Dumb Fun nature.

It doesn't really get any further than lots of talking in s2. I watched all 12 fairly close together and it feels like they didn't know where to take it in s2. Disappointing.

I watched ep 1 of season 2 but I'm not sure I want to go on. There's a ratio of interesting/boring actors that needs to be maintained in any show, and The Rig hasn't done it. I was gobsmacked when they killed off Mark Bonnar so quickly.

Have you met the diver yet? He cheered things up - even though I’m not quite sure why he’s there (narratively speaking). I thought the whole season had a weird focus: it never went where I actually wanted it to, and I missed the bonkers bits from S1

It feels stodgy.
Lots of conflict and tension points but no sense of "yeah but what's going on?"

Also there are Two Plucky Girl characters with dark hair and I'm like "one of you is Scottish-ish, the other isn't and that's about the only diff".

I’m not sure they knew what to do with the story they set up in S1. And I got quite frustrated by the amount of time spent off the rig, because that was what was fun first time around. (Obvs being a bit careful because you’re still watching)

And done. It was very aware of The Abyss, wasn't it? I was satisfied, but I'm sure a professional eye saw things I didn't. I rather doubt it's going to a third series.
