On the 10th of January 1872, Eliza Davis was found brutally murdered. She had suffered multiple stab wounds, and the crime scene suggested an intense struggle. Samuel Stammers was found near the scene, covered in blood, and was immediately arrested. He was subsequently executed at Newgate Prison.
