I was under 10 when I saw this movie, scared the shite out of me! My first, best, thriller!
( The story behind the grooming going on is scarier - I digress)
Seen it several times, but most memorable is when it was 1st on TV (60s?), watching it with my mother. Oh, she would get so freaked out, but still loving every minute of it. That, and Rear Window.
I watched Trading Places for a little bit then went to The Holiday for a tiny bit but I really wish one day they would all team up and do The Holiday II. I've watched it so much I can just say most of the lines. Then I watched Perfect Days.
When I learned her daughter is Melanie Griffith, I watched The Birds with a different eye, looking for similarities. They are both talented. It’s a great movie.
Fun fact: this movie is based on a real event that happened in a town on the Monterey Bay. Hitchcock was living near Santa Cruz at the time. This is the area where I currently live and I was thrilled to learn this after I moved here as Hitchcock is one of my faves!
I still remember when I was about 8 YO - I was having breakfast the morning after watching this movie on TV. I looked out the window at the grapevine arbor near the edge of our yard and saw what looked like a couple hundred blackbirds perched there....waiting. I did not go out to play.
