I have a choice between Delta and United, similar price flights. The Delta flight is much better in terms of schedule. But I remember at one point swearing NEVER AGAIN re Delta. I think you are 100% correct that we all have airlines we swear NEVER AGAIN. Mine is United, but I have flown on them after our terrible flight because I can't spend an extra thousand dollars to fly a different airline... but I avoid them when possible.

United is so bare bones, even if we fly direct from SLC to EWR (5.5 hours) there are no seat back screens. Maybe not a problem for you, but with my kids it is rough times.

I live in a city that's a Delta hub, and I'm not sure if that makes a difference, but if I had the choice it would be Delta without a doubt.

I’d go with Delta if the schedule is that much better. All else being equal I’d go with United, but my preference isn’t that strong.

Delta stranded my kid and I at LAX for 5 hours when she was 8 then tried to put us in seats many rows away from each other on the flight home. I said never again to delta then and have stuck to it.

They are all terrible but in December I canceled four flights because my flying phobia came roaring back and I couldn’t handle the anxiety and delta refunded all 4, in full, with apologies that my mental health had gone downhill.

All of my flights have been with Delta in the past few years (mostly work related) and I haven’t had a problem even when I wouldn’t have minded a delay. So I guess I’d probably stick with Delta.
