There have always been stupid people. It's just that we're now so highly educated and advanced compared to previous generations that we have the privilege to notice and discuss it.
A valid question: Stupidity is increasing because of cognitive overload, misinformation, & algorithms amplifying biases. While information is abundant, critical thinking hasn’t kept pace. Many fall into echo chambers or rely on superficial sources, struggling to discern facts in a sea of noise.
Information is now entertainment...advertising is now political bias...We now have two parties that are confused about what they represent? Maybe another civil war would make it clear?
Consider that the antonym of “information” is “ignorance”
Because I wouldn’t put a moral value on intelligence
But I absolutely put one on people with access to information choosing ignorance simply because it’s more comfortable to do so
It's, I think, because acquiring knowledge and drawing logical inferences takes effort... and if that effort gets in the way of people's day-to-day lives, they feel it's an affront to their personal joy. So, many choose to cling to their ignorance as if it's an honorable badge.
Reagan & Co. made conscious efforts to cut Dept of Education & dummy down our public schools. They did an outstanding job of creating shitty schools, out of date tools & underpaying the teachers. No wonder they elected Trump. MAGAts are uneducated idiots with bad teeth. There, I said it.
The GOPigs have been defunding Public schools for decades. My daughter is nearly 40 and I remember having to send things like paper towels and kleenex for the class. That was in FL where the teachers were ridiculously underpaid.
They’re so shortsighted and ignorant. I guess they want so many private school schools at public schools would just be the place for slave labor. I dare say there are a lot of kids who will be in those private schools who will not be able to be doctors or scientist. We will still need immigrants!
It’s due to information. You cannot give a populace this much information and this much sovereignty without giving them the discrimination to choose correctly.
Without education, elections are just popularity contests, and he’s more fun to watch to them. They can’t even imagine the consequences 🤷♂️
They either got the wrong information, or they choose to learn nothing because they are in “the Information Age” and can just “look up stuff when they need to”
Fear of a black planet has frozen information receptors for many white Americans. They’ll either thaw out or die out. I’m just hoping they don’t take the dream of freedom with them.
