I so desperately wish I could fully disable Gemini on Google search results. Not a single time has it been useful or relevant. I thumbs-down it every time. And they keep going.
I'm just going to have to stop using Google, aren't I?
I use it several times a week, primarily for Python code and Excel formulas. It’s almost always helpful and saves me lots of time compared to the old way of browsing stack overflow and other forums.
Yeah, Stack Overflow is never quite answering the question I have, whereas the LLM sure tries to. I have had it make up calls that don’t exist a few times but even then it gets me in the right ballpark.
It‘s incredibly bad for the environment, it spews misinformation and it‘s increasingly taking jobs for people who do writing and copyediting and translation even though it‘s awful at all of it. Also invites people to plagiarize.
I am an occasional LLM hater and very concerned about OpenAI in particular, but wholly rejecting technology because it can perform the work of Human-Occupied Jobs is counterproductive
Unbelievably bad, yes. However, I have heard from translators that they are needed more than ever to edit the translations of LLMs for important texts. And I do find some things exciting. The connections it recognizes in data or in my own texts, which gives me new ideas.

I definitely get the hate, but I find it useful.
Pleeease, not with elections coming up!
I find it incredibly useful.
We've seen this before, it's called progress.
The model T Ford is a pathetic car by modern standards, but to get to the Lamborghini we had to first invent the car.
ChatGPT is the Ford T of a new field of Technology.
I roll my eyes at LLM-boosters, I think a lot of the hype is just that, but it’s silly to think that it’s useless, and I don’t think it’s net-negative
