Yep! I have direct ties to Annie Alexander, not just in the sense that she established the museum where I got my start in paleo, but her family may have 'imported' my direct ancestors from Puerto Rico to work on her family's sugar cane plantations in Hawaii. I'm still learning the details 🧐😅

Annie met Louise Kellogg in 1908; Louise was Annie’s "partner" for 42 years. They labeled field specimens all day, then we're expected to cook the meals at night. "We sometimes wondered if the men thought the fire wood dropped out of the sky for they never asked any questions . . . .”
