The big shift will happen when the major media outlets start to use this platform in preference to X. At the moment it’s still secondary or not at all (eg BBC) and they’re still using X as their main online news outlet. Changing that to BlueSky will almost certainly bring politicians with them.

After the latest broadside, I can't see how they can continue to use X (I've stopped calling it Twitter now... Twitter is as dead as the Norwegian Blue). Any sort of engagement is tacit support of Musk: you can't in all good conscience now separate the platform from the man.

Government could just stop social media completely and make their announcements through it's own website and parliament, (where announcements should be made anyway) and then actual journalists can actually report what government is doing and saying on whatever platform the journalist chooses.

Exactly this. They could also put short teasers on X with reference to more comprehensive posts on BlueSky. I think you can post BS links on Twitter, but they can be referred to otherwise.

I'd simply repost the announcement as a straight repost of, say, a Bluesky post, with a link to that account for further details. If Twitter disables the link, that's their problem.

As far as I know @theguardian.com haven't posted on Twitter since November. Hope more will follow but I doubt they will.
