and I, in part, applied bc while I don't work at my city's public library I would like to offer whatever concrete support / labor I can in terms of advocating for it. I know that these are very stressful/scary/difficult times but this kind of reactiveness serves no one.

I behoove you to reread the original post and understand why people who have been doing this for decades took it the way they did. You've already acknowledged you should have taken more care with your language, and I encourage you to follow through with that.

Asking what work you've done isn't reactive and we're all too tired to assume.

Tell people what you tried or they're going to assume the answer is nothing.

You are assuming though? But rather than assume I am coming from a place of good faith or brainstorming you are assuming I am coming from a place of ignorance or inaction. I would have phrased my statement differently if I had predicted that. Best of luck with whatever you are doing!
