Seems like a study with the potential to be used to put even more bans and censorship in place.

This is not my area of study, so I only have a chemist’s point of view, but it looks to me like they’re singling out BL when all they’re studying is the overconsumption of porn again.

Sure, there’s scope to check if overconsumption of porn in this specific case has the same effect so as usual, but that’s not how the study is framed.

Yeah there are lots of problems with the framing of the study and assumptions being made, not least of which is treating BL as monolithic.

Whew. I agree. As I was reading the study, I was not impressed but wasn’t sure if I’m just biased against it as someone who likes BL, or if my shit-research-senses were actually cross-applicable between disciplines and rightly being triggered.

Going on about het females in a study about BL is always a red flag for me. And the frequent mentions of there being so little research about BL is another one.

There are papers out there. Even someone not in the field like me has seen a few, so I bet there are lots I’ve not seen…
