My guess-and I’m sticking to it -is that this is the problem with Public Inquiries. If there’s a criminal investigation running as well, then that comes first, so keep quiet about those facts at the PI. (If it’d been a death then the inquest would have been completely adjourned-same principle)

In this instance, I agree that certain evidence should be heard in private until the inquiry’s conclusion, as presenting it publicly could be seen as prejudicing a fair hearing if the matter proceeds to trial.

We wouldn't want them getting away with it on a legal argument - would we?
