We all misunderstand. They are taking us back to the 1890’s and reclaiming the Bellamy Salute. Notably, at that time “under God” was not in the Pledge of Allegiance, so you win some you lose some - or it’s another case of them cherry picking and we lose twice.
I'm guessing the angle will be to parse it as "white" + "nationalist" as if they're separate ideas, and read it as "a white person who is a patriot" rather than "a person who thinks whiteness is a requirement for their fellow citizens."
